I intend to develop this page to be a contact page for past members of the HMS Superb crew. Please e-mail any submissions to me.
- WAGSTAFF
- Mark Wagstaff is trying to find shipmates of his late father, Barry Wagstaff, an Able Seaman serving on the Superb in 1946.
Can anybody help?- FRED TATUM
- I have received a request for anyone who served with Fred, the only information I have is a photo of a 2 badge PO, taken in Malta, Branch is unknown, believed to be on Superb 1949-51. His nephew is enquiring. E-mail me if you can help.
- HMS SUSSEX - SINGAPORE 1945.
- I have had a request from a Marine from the USA who was serving on USS California in 1945 and was invited to a meal and a tot with in the Marines barracks on H.M.S Sussex in Singapore. I know this is not a H.M.S Superb topic, but as we made many good friends during our visits to the U.S.A., I would like to help if we can. He would like information on the Sussex, and if possible anyone who remembers the visit of the USS Marines from USS California in Singapore in 1945. Does anyone know of a H.M.S. Sussex re-union?
- Electricians mess 1952-53 A& WI and Fleet review
- I am surprised that we can't find more from the Electrical Department, particularly as so many came from East Anglia, no doubt when they get electricity out there we will get a reply. Where are you Debussy Scrivens, Peter Chambers,(last known of in bloater country) Ginger O'Connor, Effy Chilcott,( last known of in Thetford) Smudger Smith (last known of in St.Ives Hunts.) Ginger Panayi ( Cambridge, I am told but not too sure) etc. etc. We have found Paul Rider and Abdul Porter ( he hasn't changed, well he's better looking now!), and a couple of others we know of but haven't seen. Also where are you Able Seaman Ned Corp (a Londoner then), we had some good runs together. Who was in the crowd that took some station leave from Bar Harbor, not all of whom returned on time? I really can't remember. I remember our attempts at hitch hiking, the great hospitality from an American airbase, and the pr**t of a Midshipman who refused to let me on the liberty boat because the bow of my cap tally didn't suit him, go back up said the Killick of the mess (Bill Bailey), he won't know the difference. He didn't! Who was on the floodlight party for the Marines Beat the Retreat? Well, there was me, Ginger O'Connor I think, but then memory fails me.
- JAMES KENNETH PRILL

- AB CYRIL "BUCK" BUCKLAND
- Buck is looking for anyone who knows him to get in touch, he was on the 52/53 A&WI Cruise. In particular he is looking for Peter "Jonno" Johnson. E mail this site if you can help.
