Mystery Picture Two

Nope, still not a clue as to why this little picture is included. Well here goes.
1. I can tell you it is expanded
polystyrene which is often used for packaging. Like the other picture this
material is most suitable for its purpose. It has to be a very light material in
order to let the plane fly, one property of expanded polystyrene is that it is
VERY light. Plastic types are here

2. The shapes are complicated and would
be very difficult to cut accurately without CNC machining. You can programme
machines to perform complicated routines using designs created on a computer.
Look here for a clue.
.
Another way of cutting polystyrene is a
heated wire.
3. Again you would have to have assembly instructions.
4. The plane is once again built of components that need assembling. A lot of CD holders also need assembling. In the exam they might ask you to design a simple unit which could be reproduced a load of times and fitted together to make a rack. Also possibly something that can be added to at a later stage as your games or CD collection gets bigger.
