The piercing saw is used for cutting round
curves and intricate work. The blade is very thin (less than 1mm tall) and breaks very
easily. If you were required to cut a shape from the middle of a piece of metal without
making a saw cut to the edge, you would drill a small hole in the metal, thread the blade
through the hole, tighten it in the frame and release it when cutting was finished.
