Hacksaws have a adjustable frame and disposable blade and are used for cutting metal. The finer the teeth on the blade the thinner the metal that can be cut. The teeth face away from the handle.

The junior hacksaw is also for cutting metal but for finer work. The disposable blade is 'sprung into a metal wire frame.

Tinsnips are used for cutting thin sheet metal. They come in various sizes some with curved blades for cutting internal curves.

The piercing saw is used for cutting round curves and intricate work. The blade is very thin (less than 1mm tall) and breaks very easily. If you were required to cut a shape from the middle of a piece of metal without making a saw cut to the edge, you would drill a small hole in the metal, thread the blade through the hole, tighten it in the frame and release it when cutting was finished.
