This is the symbol for recycling. You can recycle wood (one method could be making wood chips into chipboard), metals (one example could be melting aluminium drinks cans down and re-using them as aeroplanes) and plastics (regrinding waste plastics and re-using the granules for injection moulding). Remember plastics don't easily break down if put on the tip it can take loads of years so try and recycle. Also you need oil usually to produce plastics (it may run out). Thermoplastics can be recycled Thermosetting plastics can't. |
Outdoor furniture can be made from recycled plastic. Often plastic chairs and tables are manufactured from recycled High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) 0r Polypropylene (PP) from waste collected in the UK, making it endlessly recyclable. This has the advantage of reducing the need for land fill. Can be given the appearance of wood with the advantages of plastic and is used to make a high quality products that stay attractive and easy to maintain for many years.
Often metal furniture is made from Aluminium which can be recycled. It is often old drinks cans that have been melted down and reformed by CASTING into furniture. Look here for information on casting.
Why Flat Pack
Why do you think large items such as tables chairs and the like are flat-packed? Because they take up less space of course. Less space in the van means you can deliver more at once. This means saving petrol and man hours. It could be seen as bad socially because less runs in the van means less drivers less construction in the factory means you don't need to build then which means you can sack a few folk.
Litter
If you have loads of folk doing barbies you often get litter. Litter is environmentally unfriendly. Make sure you bin it or take it home. The kind of bin is important. You don't want it to be basket work cause small bits of litter will escape. Often these days bins are lined with bags so they can be easily emptied. Put a lid on it and stop the wind blowing it away.
