REMEMBER - REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE another 'R' you could add to the list could be REPAIR. If you can repair something easily you would not be tempted to throw it away.

Plastic is made from oil - oil is running out it takes hundreds of years to degrade - recycle as much plastic as you can.

Steel is obtained by stripping the land of it natural resources in the form of IRON ORE - it will run out - recycle all metals.

Paper and card is made from pulped wood - wood needs to be obtained from managed forests so that trees are replanted when used. Now papers can be made from other materials such as bamboo and cotton. It's worth looking at isn't it? Paper and card should be recycled.

Aluminium is obtained from a mineral called BAUXITE - once taken from the ground it needs to be processed with masses of chemicals to extract the aluminium. These chemicals have an adverse effect on the environment. All aluminium cans can be recycled.

Most production methods pollute the environment.
