Banks of Bins

Hey up. Look at those little signs on front of these bins. They are telling you what you should put in them. Even a numpty could figure it out. Notice the openings at the top are slightly different shapes to make it more difficult to put the wrong waste into the wrong bin. The plastic bottle hole (RED) is slightly bigger than the can hole YELLOW), the paper hole (GREEN), is a slot and the general waste hole (BLUE) is bigger so it can take a variety of waste. It has a nice finish that plastic doesn't it? Shiny. Also notice that the coloured inserts are all exactly the same size, (even though they have a different size hole in them), that means you can make a load of basic bins and just put different stickers and inserts on them depending on what job you are wanting it to do. How do you think it might be made - look here.

Look how they open for easy emptying. Clever. The button on the top looks like you press it to release a catch so that it opens. How do you think the opening door is fixed. Perhaps a hinge, take a look half way down the page here. What do you think holds the rubbish? A black plastic bin liner I reckon.

See you can put little signs over the bins so you can clearly see what should go in them. This helps with sorting. The frames that hold the signs are metal poles I think. They look like they have been spray painted (powder coated) or plastic coated (dip coated). Go on, click and see.
