My father was Sydney Gerald Howitt. He passed away on Friday January 13th 2006, aged 91. He was born in Hucknall, Notts, on 9th May 1914, trained as an architect under T. Cecil Howitt (who built Nottingham town hall). In 1940 he married my mother (Norah Hayes). Since 1960 he lived in Cardiff, South Wales, cut off from the rest of the family
