This is my husband (Allan John McKenzie Howitt b. Jan 30, 1955) great grandfather - Benjamin John Joseph (who fondly perferred to be called "John" b. Oct 27, 1865 in Southhampton England m Florence Alice Head at St. George's Church in London on ????. Florence died in 1938 in Port Alberni, British Columbia, Canada. Benjamin attended school on the Isle of Wight and taught there for 10 years prior to coming to Canda in 1890. He moved to Victoria, BC, Canada at that time and worked for Canadian Pacific Railway for a few months, and began teaching in Port Alberni in 1890 for a solid 44 years and retired on July 12, 1934 at the age of 80. He built a homested on the banks of the river and died in his home, which my husbands father lived in and was known as the Howitt homested. After the untimely death of my husband's father the homested was sold. A school is named after Benjamin, it is called, John Howitt Elementary School. Benjamin had 3 children, Ida m Joseph Hill, John (my husbands father) m Kristina Pederson and Stella m Carl Lassau. My husband, Allan b Jan 30, 1955 m Cheryl Kachanoski b Aug 23, 1955 on Oct 5, 1974, we have 3 daughters, T racy b Feb 20, 1975 m Jason Pierini, Heidi b April 8, 1977, and Jody b March 27, 1979 m Trevor Sexton.
