I have been searching for information about the Howitts of Manchester England. My Great Grandfather never left Manchester but my Grandfather-Wallace born 1902 immigrated to Long Island NY after serving in the British Merchant Marines. As the family story goes, his brother-Arnold was shot down in a WWI fighter plane by the Red Baron. His other siblings went by the name of Nelson and Minnie or Minirva. We were led to believe that my grandfather-Wallace who died in 1961 at the age of 59 never gave up his British citizenship. There seems to be so many Howitts but I have not seen any of them from Manchester. I would love to travel to England in the near future. Hope to hear from a distant relative to make my trip complete.
