News Update - January 2003
If you ask anyone that knows me, they will tell you - my two favourite things to do are bug hunting and beach combing!
This shows in many of the books I write.
I have just written a book about minibeasts for Hodder and Stoughton - including the not - so - 'mini' prehistoric dragonfly called 'Meganeura' which was as big as a seagull!
My latest set of books from Franklin Watts (published from Feb 03) is called 'First Hand Science.' there are 6 books in the series:
Minibeasts - featuring my daughter, (see picture!) - she also loves to bug hunt!
Weather - about a friend's son called Joe - and my cat Cleocatra (look for a picture of her on this site!)
Seashore - featuring a very special boy called David, who lives with hs mum Erica in Maine, USA
Plants and Flowers - featuring my niece Ruby playing in my garden
Materials - about my son Alex and my daughter Bethany preparing for a firework party
Water - where my niece Ruth has great fun in her paddling pool with her friend Shushi
I am currently writing a book about dangerous animals called Animal Assassins' and another one about the World's Grossest Creatures, including everything slimy and stinky I could think of!
I have also just finished writing a story about a dragonfly, and another about a stinkbug who plays smelly jokes on his friends...so watch this space!
I am currently writing a lovely, glossy new book for parents called Play, Laugh and Learn. This will be published by Carroll and Brown.
.
It has ideas for family activities for each season - art, craft and outdoors activities including indoor rock pools, a snowman pinada and a butterfly bush!
Do you read 'Disney explorer' comic? I have written many articles for them lately - including a great 'make it' article which tells you how to make a sword and shield just like the ones in Lord Of the Rings!
Perhaps you read BBC Learning Is Fun magazine? I write the 'Mission Bernie' pages - so look out for me there!
