Speen Scout Hut

Following recent work to bring the Speen Scout Hut up to a higher standard, with grant assistance from the Speen Stores Charity fund, it is now available for hire to people in the area. The main hall is 23ft x 37ft (7 x 11.3 mtrs) with a ceiling clearance of between 10ft and almost 13ft (4 mtrs) at the centre. This makes it ideal for some indoor sports, table tennis, etc. There is some limited storage space.

Remember, it was built for rough use, so it is also ideal for kids' parties and similar. It has a sprung wooden floor. There is a large flat area outside, suitable for camping and limited parking that backs on to about 1.2 acres of private woodland attached to the property. It provides a good base camp for hikes and other outdoor events.

Ceiling heaters supply quick heat and there are tables and 38 chairs available for meetings. There are separate toilet facilities for male and female.

The kitchen is a fairly small 8ft x 9ft (2.4 x 2.7 mtrs) with a serving hatch, a standard domestic 4 ring electric cooker, grill & oven and a standard domestic refrigerator.

The hut is situated at the edge of the village on Chapel Hill, opposite the Chapel, with easy access for the larger vehicle.

Do not expect luxury, this is a strictly functional building with appropriate grounds surrounding it.

Charges to village organisations are £25.00 per evening, £40.00 per day and £1.25 per person overnight/weekend (min £40.00).
Private bookings are charged at £30.00, £45.00 and £1.50 (min £50.00) respectively.
Plus any special cleaning costs necessary.
Bookings from groups not associated with the village may be accepted upon application and subject to special conditions.
