For 2006 we will be putting on our 15mm game, the Battle of Arsuf, a classic crusader battle featuring Saladin and his Saracens versus Richard the Lionheart with the Knightly Orders.
More information on the battle will follow shortly but for now here is a gallery of pictures taken from a practice run of the game.
You can see this game at Cavalier 2006 as well as (hopefully) Salute and SELWG.

The Crusaders break camp in tight formation marching South towards Arsuf

Saracen Light Cavalry are seen in the distance, approaching from the hills

Crusader ships shadow the column

"Glad I'm not on shore - look what's coming!"

The Saracen commanders look mightly pleased at catching the crusaders in column

"Hmmm - what's the best way to attack Crusaders?"

"Yes, the horse archers would be a good idea!"

The crusaders vi with each other to get to the front of the action. Well, kind of...

"You guard my flank and I'll march to that nice walled town over there"

"Concentrate lads!"

"Blimey, there's 'undreds of em!"

Meanwhile from the safety of Arsuf the population look on...

The light cavalry let fly with a volley of arrows and are met with a hail of crossbow bolts

Saladin looks on has his light troops close in

The Knights Hospitaller's push forward to give the crusaders room

The Saracen banners sly in the breeze

Arrows fill the sky but the Knights still manage to get into battle order

The crusader commanders offer each other support...at least while there are some good dice being rolled

Wave upon wave of saracens join the attack

The townsfolk look on as the crusaders get nearer and nearer...
To be continued at a show near you, sometime in 2006...
