There will be a Triduum of Prayer in St. Patrick's Church on Monday 20th, Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd October. "Knowing Christ, Loving Christ, Proclaiming Christ". Details on back page.

ST. COLMCILLE'S CHURCH:
Please note: There will not be any Mass in St. Colmcille's on Monday 20th October, because of the Parish Mission.

ANNIVERSARY OF THE POPE'S ELECTION:
Thursday, 16th October is the 25th anniversary of the Election of our Holy Father, Pope John Paul. We should all remember him in our prayers in a very special way on that day.



MISSION SUNDAY:
Next Sunday is Mission Sunday. "Two thousand years since the start of Mission, there are still vast geographical, cultural, human and social areas which have not yet been penetrated by Christ and His Gospel" (Pope John Paul II). Support the missionary activity of the Church by prayer, offering of suffering, and a generous financial contribution.The Annual Collection for the Propagation of the Faith will be taken up next weekend.

LEGION OF MARY:
The Holy Father has dedicated the year 13/10/02 to 13/10/03 to the Family rosary. The year is soon drawing to a close, so the Legion of Mary in Downpatrick has produced a Rosary Leaflet to encourage the renewal of the Family Rosary in the family setting but also as a help to those who would not be familiar with this beautiful prayer. The leaflet will be available at all the Churches in the Parish during the weekend of 11/ 12th October. Please take one home with you and make your best effort to begin praying the Family Rosary.

KILLOUGH ROAD CEMETERY:
There are areas at the Cemetery for the disposal of rubbish: the dump, the skip and behind the screen in the left hand corner of the Cemetery. Please place rubbish in one of these areas. DO NOT DUMP RUBBISH AT THE GATES OR IN ANY OTHER UNAUTHORISED AREA OF THE CEMETERY.

We are currently updating our records for the new collection year which begins in November. If you have recently moved to the parish and require envelopes or live in the parish and do not have envelopes but would like some, please contact 02844612084 or email

VINCENT'S CENTRE:
Is situated at 2 - 4 Ballymote Walk. The Centre is run by St. Vincent de Paul and is available for everyones use - young and old alike! There are a wide range of activities on offer for all ages groups, male and female:
Sewing Class on Mondays from 10am - 12 noon (come along and enjoy a laugh and learn to use a sewing machine!)
Homework Club Monday to Thursday from 3pm - 5pm,
Senior Citizens Lunch Club Tuesdays & Fridays 10am to 1pm, (transport available)
Art & Computer Classes on Wednesdays from 10am - 12 noon
Craft Classes (Flower arranging etc) on Thursday Mornings 10am - 12.30pm.

PATRICIAN YOUTH CENTRE:
Present: Foster and Allen in Concert in The Abbey Lodge Hotel, Downpatrick on Friday 31st October. Concert commences at 8.30pm, doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets £15 are available from Hanlon's Music, The Abbey Lodge, and The Patrician Youth Centre.
ST. COLMCILLE'S YOUTH CENTRE BALLYVANGE:
The Youth Club re-opened last week in Ballyvange Hall with a new autumn/winter programme. The Club is operational on Monday & Wednesday evenings, 7pm - 10pm. Juniors - (age 7 -11 yrs) - 7pm - 8.30pm, and Form 1 upwards 8.30pm - 10pm. Programme includes Multi-sports, Arts & Crafts, Cookery, Quizzes, Music, Monthly Trips and much much more! PATRICIAN YOUTH CENTRE:
Junior Disco with "Starlight Roadshow" on Saturday 18th October from 7pm - 9pm. Admission £2. Age 8 - 11 years. Primary School Only.
MUSIC: Wednesday - 7pm - 10pm Learn to play the guitar, Thursday- 7pm - 9pm Learn to play the Bodhran and Violin

SET DANCING:
Every Tuesday in the RGU Clubrooms. Admission £2. Everyone Welcome.

CANDLES OF HOPE:
Friday 17th October at Safeway, Downpatrick. Join us for a special candle ceremony at 6.30pm. Candles on sale from 10am. Candles also now available from Cancer Research Shop. Suggested donation £1. Proceeds to Cancer Research.

VOCATION MEETING:
A Vocation Awareness Meeting will be held in De La Salle Residence, Stream Street, Downpatrick on Monday 20th October at 8pm. The meeting is to discuss with the Brothers ways and means of raising vocation awareness among the faithful and among young people and seeking how best to promote the vocation of the Brother. Interested adults and young people are invited to attend.

ROSARY PROCESSION:
On Sunday 12th October, leaving St. John's Church, Falls Road at 3pm, proceeding to St. Agnes Church, Andersonstown. Rosary leaflets will be distributed on the day. All are welcome. Legion of Mary.

ALIVE NEWSPAPER:
This months issue of Alive newspaper is available at the back of the Church this weekend. Please take one as you leave.
