EVENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Northern Ireland Summer School 2005

Lorne Girl Guide Centre,
Craigavad

25-31 July 2005

UNITY IN DIVERSITY

Summer School is full! But there is plenty of room for camping. If you would like to do this you will still have to register in advance, especially if you want meals as well. Regretfully there are no facilities for campers to cook, unless you want to build your own fire!

If you plan to book, then could you also let me know if you need a tent. Lorne has tents that can be used, but they will need to know in advance so that they can be set up before you arrive. There is also space for one more caravan.

PLEASE NOTE!

Anyone planning to come to the school on a daily, or occasional, basis will have to book for meals in advance. With the number of people already booked it is imperative that the staff at Lorne buy enough food for everyone – and this is ordered the week before the school begins. Anyone planning to avail themselves of the tuck shop offer of a soup, sandwich and drink lunch (£2.50) will also have to book in advance, as Claire will have to make sure that she has sufficient provisions to accommodate you. She does a great job, but hasn’t yet learnt the trick with 5 loaves and a couple of fishes!! You can, of course, bring a packed lunch with you, and get drinks from the tuck shop.

FINAL BOOKINGS FOR MEALS OR THE TUCK SHOP LUNCH IS FRIDAY 15 JULY.

Having said all that, the committee knows that this Summer School is going to be bigger and better than ever before. In addition to Mr and Mrs Nakhjavani, we will also have Counsellor Shirin Fozdar-Foroudi and her family with us for the whole week, as well as Rita and Viv Bartlett, Sepideh Taheri and Atieh and Joe Donnelly. Other speakers will include Colin Palin, Iain Palin, Keith Munro and Soha Graham. A full programme has been prepared including Late Night Thingys, when we will have people giving less formal talks, with discussions.

This year we have also arranged some very special outings for the children, including visiting W5, the Transport Museum and the Zoo.

Visitors are coming from Germany, Holland, Spain, the World Centre, Bulgaria, England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. It will be a really international school—don’t miss it!

Bring instruments, anything else to help entertain everyone, but most of all – BRING YOURSELF!
