Minutes for the Lanark and District Archaeological Society Committee Meeting held at the Teaths on 29/11/00 Present - Ann Clark, Ian Borthwick, Scott Main , Ed Archer, David Hill, Neil Simpson , Charlie Bulloch, Sandy Gilchrist and Malcolm Gair Apologies - Alan Paton Matters Arising 1. Finds to go to Lanark Museum to be referred to Royal Scottish Museum. Ian to action this. 2. Annual Sale - discussion about the sales and relative merits of Nov/May. Ann to contact Ian Veitch re Tolbooth 3. Members night - John Clark - Railways, Scott Main - Archaeology and Philosophy, Sandy Gilchrist - F.W Pilkington, Ian Borthwick - Etowah Indian Mounds. Tea and Sandwiches to be served at 8.30 p.m and Ed to introduce everybody. 4. Ed to contact Lawrence and Margaret re the Christmas Dinner.. 5. Scott to work on the details of the Fife Trip on January 2nd. 6. Ed to ascertain the cost of the C.I.A conference at Nottingham 7. Newsletter to be published for December 11th. Newsletter to be issued quarterly . 8. Committee meetings to be on the Wednesday before Society meetings. 9. Discussion about using sidelines to advertise some of the events. 10. Website - still about 100 hits a month. 11. Ed to contact Jack Hoxley to join the committee. 12. Financial Statement £1837 - 09 - cash £27-58 - number of paid up member stands at 28( 34 actual ) 13. BT grant to Lanark Museum mentioned. 14. Outstanding / ongoing actions mentioned. 15. Scott mentioned that he had joined the ALVO committee. 16. Cataloguing of finds still to be done. 17. Items to be listed for wish list e.g - G.P.S System, Resistivity Equipment and Overhead Projector . 18. Malcolm mentioned an old print of Mauchline Castle. Copy to be made for owner. 19. Ed still awaiting news from Renfrewshire. 20. Ed to thank Steve for his help. 21. Inveresk going to finish at the end of November. 22. Sabre Systems still to draw up plans for training. 23. Bridges survey to start soon. 24. Ed still to find out prices of surveying equipment. 25. Ed mentioned the Bangor University Archaeological Holidays. 26. Ed said that he was going to meet up with Sam Eccles of SOLVE. 27. Possible visit to Aikwood in June mentioned. 28. Fieldwalking to start in January . 29. Millennium Dinner on Saturday January 6th discussed. 30. Local Plan discussed - Ed to ask for a copy of NPPG5 "archaeology and Planning " Ed to mention concerns about Lanark Castle. Ed wanted to have Ladas and Biggar Museum given their place in the planning process. Next Meeting - Wednesday January 10th at 7.30 p.m at the Teaths
