LADAS MEETING - 10/01/01 - MINUTES Present - Ian Borthwick, Scott Main , Ann Clark, David Hill , Alan Paton , Ed Archer and Neil Simpson Apologies - Jack Hoxley , Malcolm Gair , Charlie Bulloch and Sandy Gilchrist Review of Past Events 1. Members' night - decided to continue the good idea of having a break in the middle. It was also thought that more enthusiasm should be drummed up from the membership. 2. Christmas Dinner - members thought that the meal was not very good. The question of deposits was discussed and it was thought that a better night out could be arranged at the Tinto. 3. Trip to Fife - a success. Thank you letter to be sent by Scott to the Abbot's House guide. Forthcoming Events 1. Lecture by Ken Ledingham on January 15th in the Library. Ken to be met and given a meal in the crown. Ken's need for an overhead projector was discussed. 2. Churches visit - details to come from Sandy. 3. Ann suggested a visit to Selkirk and then to Aikwood house. 4. Possibilities of a visit to Carlisle discussed as well a special Christmas market in York on November 30th. Discussion of Actions 1. Ed to apply to Jenny Gordon fund for money for resistivity meter. 2. Ian to do headed notepaper for the Society. 3. Scott mentioned that he would shortly be setting up the Library. 4. Ed to talk to ALVO re insurance for Computer equipment. 5. Alan to collect bamboo poles for fieldwalking. 6. Ed to arrange for keys for museum for January 14th. 7. Ed to ascertain cost of C.I.A Conference. 8. Jack to be informed that he was now officially co-opted. 9. Members to be reminded about web site training on Feb3rd and Feb 10th. Alan Paton reported on Tom's dig at Melbourne - Late Neolithic 16. Ed to contact Hogg of Carluke re proposed development in the South Vennel and to speak to Alan thereafter. 17. Equipment record sheet handed out. 18. Treasure trove allocations discussed and Moat Park regarded as best place for Prehistoric artefacts. 19. Financial statement - £1680 - 13. Cash - £33-01 20.
