Lanark and District Archaeological Society - Committee Meeting Clydesdale Inn , Lanark 19/03/02 Present - Ian Borthwick, Ann Clark, Neil Simpson,David Hill, Ed Archer, Scott Main Apologies - Sandy Gilchrist , Alan Paton , Jack Hoxley and Charlie Bulloch Review of past events Derek Alexander's talk was well received despite the fact that the lecture did not include much about gardens. Forthcoming events 1. The Lanimer Quiz was discussed. 2. Ed informed the committee about the availability of equipment whilst he was away in China. Alan Paton to be informed. 3. Churches Visit was discussed. 4. Ed to e-mail Ian with the details of the Conference. Ann and Scott volunteered to deal with the visitors for Kittochside. Grant for the Conference was also discussed. 5. Spring sale - 25th May discussed and various committee members agreed to help. 6. June 22nd - Visit to Ardoch and Stirling. Ed to contact Lawrence re Ardoch 7. Ed to ask ALVO for the use of the Conference room for 2- 3 p.m on Saturday September 14th. Thereafter town walk to take place between 3.15 p.m and 4.30 p.m. 8. Expedition to Western Isles postponed pro tem. Roles - etc 1. Ed to aim to produce new newsletter for May. 2. Ed to organize press release about Conference towards end of April. 3. Tom Hislop to be reminded that membership to be renewed to participate in fieldwalking. 4. C.I.A to be asked to make sure their details correspond to those agreed by LADAS. 5. Jack Hoxley intimated that he no longer wanted to participate in the South Lanarkshire Museums' Forum. Ian was to be the Societies representative. 6. Equipment - Awards for All discussed - Ed and Scott to work on application Form. Financial Statement 1. £1332.78 after £850 had been allowed for Resistivity Meter and other sundry expenses. Ian Morrison's Book Collection 1. Ed reported that progress had been made regarding the store and the transfer of some books. Lectures Possible lectures discussed 1. Diane - partner of Eddie Peltenburg to be contacted to give a lecture on 10/02/03. 2. Dr Michael Kennedy to be invited to talk about the 4th Crusade on 12/05/03.
