Members' Night 2000

On Monday, December 11, 24 members and friends attended the members' night at the Elpthinstone Hotel in Biggar.

The first speaker was John Clark who illustrated his talk on Railway Heritage with a number of slides. John discussed many of the features of the railway which were once familiar on the landscape, but are now lost.

The next talk on the Philosophy of History was given by Scott Main.

There was then a break for tea and sandwiches after which Sandy Gilchrist detail the work of the Victorian architect Fredrick Pilkington, concentrating particularly on his rural work, which as well as the well know churches, also extended to a number of other properties.

The final talk was given by Ian Borthwick on the Mississippian Indian Mounds.

The audience were most asked several questions of the speakers before Ed Archer proposed a final vote of thanks to all who had participated.
