Pub History Society outing to the historic pubs of Stamford.
Steve Williams will give a vague and badly thought out guided tour of some pubs past & present!
If you've never ventured to this part of Lincolnshire you won't be disappointed. John Betjeman called Stamford 'England's most attractive town'
and I think that all would agree. If you're not interested in pubs then there are plenty of small independent shops as well as a museum. Burghley house is a bit of a stroll away and is a 'must see'. But hopefully you'll come along to sample the beers, enjoy the pubs and hear a bit about the history. You will need to be at Peterborough railway station by 1130 or Stamford station at 1210. The journey from Peterborough to Stamford is about 15 minutes. Catch any train back as appropriate (usually hourly). Among the many pubs of interest in the town the most superb is the recently opened Tobie Norris. A spectacular refurbishment of the former RAFA club. Local beers and a myriad of small rooms dating in part to the 1200's.
