My name is Ian Rose and I was born in Smethwick, Staffordshire in 1949, although I have lived in Essex since 1954.
I work in Finance & Accounting, and at present I am working for a Waste Management Company in North London. Until 1997 I worked for a Charter Airline for 8 years. I am also building up a Genealogical Copy Document Service in my spare time and, although it is still in its infancy, it is building up gradually.
I am also building up a collection of photographs of Essex Churches which are available for people to copy for their family history records. Click here to see them.
My spare time interests are Genealogy (of course), Amateur Radio (Call Sign G0HDZ), Photography, Gardening ,Computing and Travel.

Helen
Helen is my wife and she was born in Rochford, Essex in 1947. She has lived in Czechoslovakia, South Norwood, Manchester and Enfield prior to moving back to Essex after we were married in 1968.
Helen used to work locally as a Sales Administrator for a Company manufacturing and retailing Labels and Labelling Equipment but after working for the same Company for 30 years, she decided to retire this year and is now a Lady of leisure.
Helen's spare time interests are assisting me with my Genealogy, Knitting (a small nephew and niece to keep in woollies), Travel and playing Canasta on the computer. She also enjoys cooking and trying out new recipes. Try out her Recipe of the Week.
Helen has her own car but she HATES driving.

Deb
Deb is our daughter and she was born in Essex in 1970, where she has lived ever since, although she has not lived at home for several years.
We have always had pets ever since we were married and at present have two ginger cats called Oscar and Widget . Up until recently we had a Japanese Akita dog called Remy who we sadly lost due to old age and a number of ailments.
We used to show and breed Samoyed dogs and we had a little success in the show ring. We had 24 puppies over the years.

We have been fortunate to travel fairly extensively over the years, partly due to my job with the airline, and we have visited most countries in Europe including the former Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Croatia and Hungary. Further afield, we have been to the Canary Islands, the USA, Cyprus, Malaysia, Thailand and five of the seven United Arab Emirates. We added New Zealand to this list in March1999 and again in 2001. You will find a selection of photographs of some of these places elsewhere on this site.

Hilary - Helen's Sister
Hilary is Helen's "little" sister and three years ago, together with husband Andrew and children Rachael and Richard, they moved into an old farmhouse in Bedfordshire. Part of the house is 17th Century and part is Victorian. It had not been occupied for 25 years and needs virtually complete renovation.
When I say "moved in", this is not strictly accurate. They are actually living in a converted Pig - Sty until the house itself is habitable. The house has extensive grounds of 7 acres and lots of outbuildings. The grounds are now home for Boots and Laine, who are Llamas, and also a family of 5 Ming Pigs. There were originally two pigs but a family of 4 piglets appeared shortly after their their acquisition. They also have three dogs, Beatrice, Maddie and Artax. The next addition to the livestock may well be an Alpaca. We think she should get a pair of Ostriches!
