I am pleased to offer a search and copy service for General Record Office records (Births, Marriages and Deaths) for the whole of England and Wales for the period 1837 - 1992
The fee, which is 10.00 GB Pounds, includes the cost of a copy certificate, a search of up to 5 years and air mail postage. If a search of MORE than 5 years is neccessary, then each additional year over 5 is charged at 0.50 GB Pounds.
If you are able to supply the FULL GRO index reference (Name, Quarter Date, District, Volume and Page Number), then the fee is 8.50 GB Pounds, again including air mail postage.
Payment is by Sterling Bank Draft, payable on a UK bank OR a cheque in GB Pounds from Ruesch or Accu-Rate - SEE BELOW.
Local currency "paper money" is acceptable but 3.00 GB Pounds must be added to the total to cover exchange commission here in the UK. The total pounds should then be converted to your local currency at the current exchange rate (your bank will know this).
I aim to have certificates ready to mail out within about 14 - 21 days of receipt of payment.
PAYMENT BY CREDIT CARD
Unfortunately, payment is no longer possible by Credit Card as the agency in the USA which handled this for me has gone out of business.
Certificate details can be e-mailed or a scanned copy sent before mailing (for those who can't wait!!!).
The service is simple; simply e-mail your requirements, giving AS MUCH DETAIL as possible and I will e-mail you back with a firm cost.
Upon receipt and clearance of your payment, your search will be carried out and details posted to you, by air mail for overseas enquiries. You will be kept up to date of any developments by e-mail.
I can e-mail results if required but in all cases, copy certificates, transcripts etc. will be posted.
My fees are reasonable - the cost of a certificate plus a small fee for my time and expenses. I am a researcher offering a service to other researchers and I know how expensive it can be researching from a distance !

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT PAYMENTS IN UK POUNDS STERLING
If you are in the USA and need a Sterling cheque, Ruesch International will supply one for just a small conversion fee. Call them toll free on 1-800-424-2923 or fax them on 1-202-408-1211 for details.
If you are in Canada and need a Sterling cheque, ACCU-RATE FOREIGN EXCHANGE will issue one for free !! Call them in Ottawa on (613) 596-0612 or CLICK HERE to e-mail them for details. Also most banks will issue them, although they will probably make a charge.
In Australia and New Zealand, most banks will issue a sterling cheque, payable on a UK Bank but a fee will probably be charged. It is probably cheaper for you to mail "paper currency".
Travellers cheques, preferably VISA, AMEX or MASTERCARD ones, are acceptable in UK currency PROVIDED that they are signed TWICE in the appropriate places or completely unsigned. Ones with only one signature are not acceptable.
