7xx Series Telephones

The 700 Series Teles were the last of the Classic design of Telephone.They were introduced from about 1960. A vast improvement with lots of colours to choose from not just the old black. They have lasted well and examples can still be found working today.

Red 706

Red 706 showing the earth call button, this was uses for shared line subscribers X & Y. Pressing the button before the call to obtain dial tone.

Note the exchange number 4 digits only! No problem remembering numbers then ;-).

upside down push button

7xx Teles came in all sorts of combinations, this one is mounted upside down with a special bracket for the hand set to sit on. This is one of the last of this type with push button dialing (LD). Note the space for the number below the zero.
