SITE NOTES

Browsers

This site uses Style Sheet positioning which may be interpreted inappropriately by some browsers. It has been tested on MS Explorer 5.00 and Netscape 4.73. Both produced acceptable output, though where differences occurred we leant toward making MS Explorer the standard. The site is designed to be viewed at a screen resolution of 800 x 600. (We have tried to counter the problems of re-sizing widows under Netscape 4, but in general it is preferable not to re-size windows during a viewing session.) Please let us know if you experience any difficulties using the above or other browsers to view material on this site (email: ibas@lkaz.demon.co.uk).

Layout

All the material on the site can be accessed from the two Contents pages: one for current material and the other for less recent (archive) articles. Non-English articles can be accessed from both the Contents pages and a Non-English directory (accessible from the Home page only). Dates accorded to articles are generally the date they were written but may occasionally refer to when they were made available to the IBAS site.

Translations

For most pages, a 'Translate Page' button appears in the navigation bar. This leads to a window which enables the user to obtain a free Systrans machine translation of the page (between English and five other European languages).

Where the article referenced is not in English but a version in English exists on the site the 'Translate Page' button will not appear (unless the article is in French, for which Systrans also offers free translation to the other main European languages). Users should be aware that machine translation has limited applicability and we accept no responsibility for the inevitable distortions to content and meaning introduced in this process.

Systrans currently offers a free translation of only 16Kb. Additional text can be translated by copying and pasting directly into the translation window on the Systrans or other 'free translation site.'

Printing

All the pages on the site (with the exception of the Home page) contain frames. In order to print a document (and avoid printing navigation bars) click in the document part of the window before choosing 'print selected frame' from your printer options.
