Interview recorded on the occasion of the St James' ringers reunion held in September 2002. This contains an interview with Chris Johnson. Chris was a ringer at Accrington in the 1950s who attended our reunion celebration. Please be patient while the Real Player buffer fills up. This will take approximatly 2 minutes on a 56k modem. The interview lasts about 15 minutes.
London Surprise Major. I thought this recording was worth including for its historic value even though it was recorded at another of our local chuches, St James' Church Kirk, rather than Accrington. The recording is from a peal of London surprise Major rung during the mid 1970s by a visiting band of ringers. This set of bells was later destroyed in a terrible fire which totally burned out the tower and destroyed the bells. The bells were replaced afterwards by a set from a redundant church in Pendlebury, Manchester, mainly by the efforts of Gordon Whewell. This recording may well be the only on in existence of the old bells, unless anyone knows differently. The recording lasts about 3 minutes.
