A few years ago, we were awarded £48 800 from The Lottery Heritage Fund. + £27 750 allocated to us by Entrust. In addition we had already had smaller grants. With this funding, we put many of our plans to move into Kirkland together.
However, our main tribute must be to the Economic Planning Department of Fife Council. It would be an understatement to say that they were extremely helpful. There can be no possible doubt whatsoever that without their help and support we could not have got the grant. We would like to say, "Thank you - Fife Council".
What did we do with this money ?
We fenced a compound on the site, moved 5 Portacabins, 3 containers a steam locomotive, some wagons, signalling equipment, level crossing objects and many more items from storage onto the site.
We transported and relaid some railway track from Methil Docks kindly given to us by Railtrack some time ago. All of our stock was moved from storage to the site. Forth Ports are also gave us railway track from Methil and Burntisland
We also erected a building so that we can work on restoration under cover. This building is 24 x 14 metres and holds the stock we are working on and to prevent further corrosion.
All this means that members come and enjoy themselves restoring the stock and starting to run the railway as we have always planned.
