IK4: Return to Southport
by Mark Kaufman
EXT. Dark Office Room-Late Evening
Julie James' sits quietly at her office desk sharply pecking at keys on her computer. she stops to rub her tired eyes-she looks at the clock overhead, 11:39. Than she peeks outside the huge window that sits right in front of her desk. The old gargoyle situated near the window stares into her eyes. Her desk lamp is the only one that shines in the deserted office. She continues typing, when she hears a slight tap at the far end of the office.
JULIE
Hello? (pause) Is anybody there? (pause) Hello?
She quietly moves out of her chair, abandoning her report just when she was finishing the final sentence. She only finished "I". She moves to the exit door right behind the last desk.
She turns the doorknob and opens it with a tug to see the familiar shiny madallion.

DENISE
(SCREAMS) It's only me, geez!
JULIE
My god Denise, you scared the ---- out of me!
DENISE
I found this hook outside of the office. I just brought it in!
JULIE
O god!
DENISE
No-NO Julie, Ben is dead. The sheriff said it himself! Plus, were in Southport!
JULIE
I know, "Home to the Fisherman", it just brings back too many bad memorys
DENISE
I just came here to get my portfolio's for tomorrow, than I'll be off!
JULIE
I'm gonna go put this thing in the back room, as she dangles around the hook.
Julie heads far past about twenty deserted desks and comes to a back room with a trashcan and an old computer. She looks at the hook once more with a suspicious and frieghtened look and throws it away. Suddenly she hears a scream. She runs out throw the packed office. She hears a second scream, but suddenly trips over a chair. She is hurt and remains on the floor for a minute. She remembers why she was running and gets up. She comes to where the exit is and sees that Denise is gone.
She wonders if something is wrong but shrugs it off to return to her desk. She sits down to continue her last sentence after "I". Only to feel the familiar feeling like knives clenching through her stomach. She sees in capital print "I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID THAT SUMMER!"
She gets up from her chair as it slams to the ground. She immediately picks up the phone and dials 911. She looks up and sees the familiar yet battered and bloody face of Denise hanging from the gargoyles back, 10 stories from the ground. She is dying and looks at Julie one last time before she closes her eyes, blood dripping from her mouth
