"I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER" HELEN'S CHASE SCENE .
THE SCENE BEGINS IN THE POLICE CAR AFTER THE OFFICER IS KILLED BY THE FISHERMAN.
IN THE BACK SEAT
Helen goes ballistic, BASHING about like a caged animal...she trys to kick the windows out, but no luck.
THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD
The Fisherman moves toward her. The fishhook dripping red. He moves's to the driver's side and gets in and shuts the door. He puts the car in gear and drives off, with Helen, trapped and SCREAMIMG, in the backseat.
EXT. POLICE CAR - SAME
The police car makes its way down the quiet street. It rounds the corner onto an equally deserted street. The party SOUNDS growing farther and farther away.
INT. POLICE CAR - SAME
Helen is thrashing about madly. She BEATS and KICKS on the doors and windows trying to crash her way out.
She calms down for a second looking at her captor...his head hidden in the hood of his slicker.
Helen is beyond hysterics...her mind bordering total collapse. She tries to use her brain...sort her options. Her mind races, calculates...her eyes searching the backseat for something...anything...they come to rest on the scepter.
She grabs it up with her two hands...her mind racing quickly conspiring...she clutches it firmly...through the grill the Fisherman drives on, paying no mind to Helen...ignoring her, satisfied at her confinement.
ANGLE THROUGH WINDSHIELD
The car turns onto a new street...they're moving further and further away from any hint of life.
CLOSE ON Helen...it's now or never. She lifts the scepter up to the grill to see if it'll fit through the spokes. A perfect fit. She moves to the driver's side of the car sitting directly behind the Fisherman. She pulls the scepter up behind the fisherman's head...gives it a quick aim and then...
RAMS IT THROUGH the grill...PLOWING it right into the back of the fisherman's head...direct contact, the fisherman falls forward as..
Helen STRIKES again, ramming it harder this time, into the Fisherman's skull. The Fishermans slumps against the steering wheel as car goes SWERVING out of control.
EXT. EMPTY STREET - SAME
The police car jumps the curb and skirts the sidewalk...the passenger side SCRAPING, SPARKING against store fronts completely out of control. Up ahead, a street lamp appears directly in front of the car's path.
The car PLOWS into in dead-on, CRASHING at full speed, SLAMMING to a hard stop.
INT. POLICE CAR - SAME
Helen surfaces in the back seat. The grill plate has been loosened by the crashes. She looks to the Fisherman who appears unconscious, his head resting on the steering wheel.
The passenger side of the car is smashed into the brick wall. Helen has no choice. There's only one way out. She pries the grill back...using all her strength. She creates a opening large enough for her to crawl through.
She wiggles through...falling into the passenger side of the front seat. Eyeing the fisherman, Helen the door knob...she pushes on the door. It CREAKS open. Helen checks her back, making sure the Fisherman hasn't risen.
Helen falls out of the car...
EXT. STREET - SAME
Helen slides down from the open car door onto her hands, pulling her legs from the car when her entire body is...
JERKED VIOLENTLY BACKWARDS
The Fisherman has her by the ankle...yanking her, pulling her.
HELEN
(screaming)
NOOOOOOOO...
Helen kicks madly..savagely...fighting as her body is pulled back into the car. She grounds her hands, adjusts her weight and then KICKS viciously. Her leg makes contact with the Fisherman's head...he loses a beat, just enough for Helen to slide down and under the open car door.
The Fisherman rebounds instantly. He opens his door and steps out. Helen brings herself to her feet and takes off down the road...feet POUNDING.
THE SCENE CONTINUES NORMALLY AS HELEN RUNS DOWN THE STREET. SHE GETS TO THE STORE, AND HAS THE WHOLE 'OPEN THE DOOR, ELSA!' SEQUENCE. HELEN TELLS ELSA TO LOCK THE OTHER DOOR WHILE SHE CALLS THE POLICE. ELSA IS KILLED AND...
INT. DEPARTMENT STORE - NIGHT
Helen is at the counter. She grabs the phone. Her face terrified. Sick.
The phone is at her ear--no dial tone. She tries another line...no luck. She looks at the base...all the lines are off the hook somewhere else in the store.
HELEN
NOOOOOOO....
THUMP! A noise behind her. She spins around, her courage draining fast. She drops the phone and charges for the door. She wants out.
HELEN
Elsa? Elsa...where are you?
Helen reaches the door but it's useless. She's locked in. She beats at it in sheer anger.
THUMP! Helen spins around. She moves to a window display full of clothed mannequins. She beats against the glass...then searches for something to break through.
She shoves a mannequin against it, trying to shatter the window, not seeing behind her, as a mannequin, wearing a hooded slicker, slowly comes to life.
Helen turns around just as the Fisherman is upon her. She spins around as his hand of silver rises high in the air...
HELEN DIVES off the display stage into a rack of clothes. The Fisherman right behind her. She jumps to her feet and takes off through the store, running madly down an aisle.
She puts as much distance as she can between them, tearing up the carpet. She moves through SPORTING GOODS, grabbing a tennis racket, swinging it through the air but then drops it, exchanging it for a steel baseball bat instead. She moves on, passing through hardware...dropping the bat and picking up a shiny, new hatchet.
She turns a corner and stumbles, falling forward to the ground, her feet tumbling over...
ELSA'S BODY
Helen strifles a SCREAM. Elsa lies still and bloody...her eyes wide. Helen in mortified but remains steady. She stands, stumbling forward into the...
FISHERMAN
Helen raises the hatchet and strikes...he stops it cold with the hook in his hand. Then, in a lightning move, curves the hook around the base of the hatchet and whips it from Helen's grasp, sending it sailing across the showroom.
Helen shoots up backwards down the aisle. She eyes the stairs that lead up into another section of the store. She goes for them.
INT. LANDING - SAME
Helen races up the stairs and down an aisle towards a window. She looks behind her...the Fisherman is moving up the stairs.
At the window, Helen throws the window open.
YOU CAN PRETTY MUCH TELL IT'S THE SAME HERE. HELEN GETS ONTO THE LEDGE, AND THE FISHERMAN SWINGS THE HOOK AT HER AND SHE FALLS TO THE ALLEYWAY BELOW. SHE WANDERS AIMLESSLY AROUND THE BACKSTREETS, UNTIL SEEING THE PARADE WHICH SHE RUNS TO. BUT INSTEAD OF TURNING AROUND, ALMOST RIGHT AT SAFETY, THE KILLER STEPS IN FRONT OF HER, AND KILLS HER.
