JULIE JAMES: Julie James is now 19 years old, and has moved away from the terrors of her home-town, Southport, to a respected college in Boston - though her grades are slipping. Despite trying to free herself of guilt and worry, Julie still suffers from nightmares that haunt her during the day and night - making it hard for her concentrate in class. She shares an apartment with her friend Karla Wilson [see below], and is finding it hard to keep her relationship with Ray alive due to the fact that he still works in the place she dares not tread - Southport. She has made friends with a guy called Will Benson who is also studying with her, although no romance has blossomed between them.

RAY BRONSON: Ray is still working as a fisherman - taking on his father's job - in the twee fishing town of Southport. He is still in love with Julie, and even bought an engagement ring for her, but her fear of their home-town and of Ben pushed him away from her. Upon discovering that Ben Willis really is alive and kicking - after his friend is murdered by him - Ray takes it upon himself, once again, to play hero and go after Julie in the Bahamas.

KARLA WILSON: Karla is Julie James' room-mate and is twenty years old. She works in a bar at nights, where she regularly meets up with her hormone-driven boyfriend, Tyrell. She is the one who wins a trip to the Bahamas (at an island called 'Tower Bay'), and decides to take Julie, Tyrell, and their friend Will with her when Ray fails to show after he has an argument with Julie over the phone. Karla is fun-loving and tries desperately to get Julie and Will to go out together - though failing miserably.

TYRELL: Tyrell is a twenty-three year old guy, and is Karla's boyfriend. He is fun-loving anf fancy-free, and spends time with her when she is working at the bar. He is also a friend of Julie's (tending to refer to her as "Jules"). Nothing more than that is known about him... except that he gets sea-sick and likes to play hero when there's a guy with a hook on the loose!
