According to some reports that are floating around the Net, Urban Legend 3 is almost ready to begin pre-production! I recieved the following piece of news:
"Urban Legends 3 is getting ready to start production. The script is done.
Jennifer Morrison read it and says she wants to do it. The plot brings back
Amy (Morrison) and will have the surviving casts of Urban Legends, and Final
Cut coming together."
Let's hope that this news turns out to be true - Jennifer Morrison was excellent in UL2. Thanks to "ScreamFreek" for the notification.

French movie magazine "Cine-Encore" has apparently confirmed that an Urban Legend 3 is in the works! Here is the translation of the article itself:
"Talk about not knowing when to stop! News has emerged that Phoenix Pictures are making an Urban Legend 3! It seems that poor box office showings by the first two installments have not put off bosses at the movie studio and we can reveal that the second sequel - as yet untitled - has been given the green light. Filming is expected to commence late 2001, with a United States cinematic release of October 2002. The plot is being heavily guarded by Sony at present -- as if anyone cares..."
As they say, "any UL3 news is good news!"

An interview with UL2 director John Ottman in Venezualian movie magazine "REVISTA Ticket" has seen him admitting interest in directing UL3, with him saying he would be "very interested" in the possibility. However, ULegend.net's webmaster e-mailed John himself asking if he had in fact been approached by anybody regarding a third movie, to which he replied: "UL3 is just a rumor. If it's not, I haven't heard a word about it!"

A huge piece of news today everybody... the webmaster over at Pendleton: UK received news from an insider over at Sony (who previously provided that site with pictures and trailers a few months back) that an Urban Legend 3 will definitely be going ahead. Although facts are very fleeting, apparently Sony will "not rush a movie sequel out at the cost of spoiling the series' reputation." Let's just hope that they can create another sequel as superior as Urban Legends: Final Cut.

A huge update today, with a lot of new content added for everyone! 8 (count them, baby!) movie clips were released a few days back on ZineZone.com, and I have finally been able to place them up at ULegend.net!! You can access them through the Multimedia section of the main area of the site, or in the Urban Legends: Final Cut section. I also added some brand new scans from magazines to the Urban Legends Scanned Images area - beware, there are spoilers for a couple of deaths in them. I am typing up two articles regarding UL2 from two recent Cult magazines as we speak, so expect them up very soon. And who says I don't love my visitors?! ;-)

It has been confirmed through various different entertainment magazines in the past week that director Sam Raimi has been eyeing Urban Legend's Alicia Witt for the role of 'Mary Jane Watson' in the upcoming Spiderman feature. Commenting on the possiblity of casting Witt - who is considered a popular choice among Spiderman fans - Raimi said, "I really like how she tested," but adds, "there are still other actresses left to interview." The character of 'Mary Jane Watson' is 'Spiderman' Peter Parker's red-headed love interest.
Another bit of news concerning a participant of Urban Legend concerns the movie's writer, Silvio Horta, who is reportedly developing a new Disney horror alongside British horror mistro Clive Barker. Entitled Bloody Mary, the movie will be loosely based on Miami New Times reporter Lynda Edwards' 'Myths over Miami' article, which documented the folklore belief among Florida homeless shelters of a strange character living in the Everglades, who steals children from their beds in the middle of the night. Barker had to say, "Fantasy works best when it's working on a lot of levels. [When] something has you really wondering, Is it real, or isn't it?"

It's all gone a little quiet seeing as Urban Legends: Final Cut has been released in the USA (still waiting here in the UK!), so here's a little news on the cast members from both movies regarding their upcoming projects... Matt Davis and Jessica Chauffiel, who both had parts in UL2 have joined the ever-growing cast list with Reese Witherspoon in the upcoming Legally Blonde. The aspect of their parts is yet to be confirmed at this time. Matt Davis can be seen now in Joel Schumacher's Tigerland, and Jessica Chauffield's new movie (which she starred alongside Angel leading man, David Boreanaz), entitled Valentine (helmed by Urban Legend director Jamie Blanks) will be out later this year. And finally, Alicia Witt (who played 'Natalie' in Urban Legend) is 'apparently being considered to play Mary Jane in the upcoming Spiderman' feature! - Thanks to Victor.

Great news today, people! Urban Legends: Final Cut hit the top of the US box office charts this weekend, taking in almost $9million ($8.8m to be exact!)! The actual Box Office Chart can be seen to the right, and as you can see, Urban Legends had some pretty tough competition! Let's just all hope and pray that it can stick in there long enough for Phoenix Pictures to decide it would be a good idea to do an Urban Legend 3! ;-) Oh, and also a reminder, to please take a look at the Message Baord!

A friend of mine who lives in the US has sent in his own review of Urban Legends: Final Cut today, and he said that the movie is one of the best sequels that he has ever seen! You can read the review in the UL2 reviews section, or by clicking here. Those of you lucky enough to have seen the movie, don't forget you can send in your own reviews through that area of the site as well by filling in the form! As a reminder: please refrain from sending spoilers :) Thanks.

Added a new, very positive review of Urban Legends: Final Cut today, so please take a look. It's from the webmaster of ComingSoon.net, who also recently interviewed Loretta Devine (interview can be found at ulegend.net here), and the reviewer felt it was a very entertaining movie, which was a departure from the regular idea of a sequel. He said that it "broke new ground"!! Can't be a bad thing!

Today I have put up ULegend.net's very own UL2 fan-script (entitled Urban Legend: The New Legends) for you all to read! Some of you may have read the original draft (which was okay, but not great), but please don't let that stop you reading the re-write, which is far, far better than the original draft! I have added a different ending to the original one, which I think you'll all like better... so please check it out and sign the guestbook in that section telling us what you think. You can read the fan-script at http://www.wherelegendsrule.cjb.net/fanscript/.

Some more news today! I added a complete list of the official release dates for Urban Legends: Final Cut across the globe to the UL2 section (it's on the main page just below the US and UK release dates; click the link and you're there!). Also, a kind visitor of ULegend.net managed to transcribe one of the few Urban Legends: Final Cut commercial trailers that have been playing on US screens these past few weeks. The transcript can be found in the UL2 Other Facts section. Also, MovieFone.com has been receiving a number of non-spoiler reviews from people who have been given sneak previews of the movie in the past few days, so go there if you're interested.

Some big news today everyone. The webmaster of ComingSoon.net was lucky enough to score a nice interview with Loretta Devine (star of Urban Legend and Urban Legends: Final Cut) today, in which she talked about various things ranging from how her character has been expanded on in the upcoming sequel to her quick-off-the-tongue quips! In the Urban Legends: Final Cut section of ULgend.net the Other Facts area has been opened, and various other interviews with cast and crew can be found in there, so please check it out! Click here to go there now.

Garth Franklin, over at DarkHorizons.com managed to get in to see a preview of Urban Legends: Final Cut (lucky b*****d), and has posted his own review of the movie at his site. Although he didn't rate the movie too high, he stated that "The young actors are good, especially the women with Mayfield, Cauffiel and the returning Devine easily becoming the most memorable characters of the cast", as well as putting "this is a serious horror flick with Ottman's knowledge of music proving highly useful in creating a good atmosphere and 2-3 good 'jumps'." Check out the review here, or it can also be found in the main Urban Legends: Final Cut area.

I am a UK resident, so cannot verify this unfortunately, but appanrently there have been a number of commercials for Urban Legends: Final Cut aired on US television in the past few days in anticipation for the US release September 25th. A source of mine said: "During TRL's commercial break, I saw 2 different television commercial previews for UL2! And, believe me, there was much more on them than the theatrical trailer showed! They showed more of all of the characters in action scenes, including Amy running away from the killer in the halloween monster type mask and suit (seen in the picture from the Yahoo site, [click here to see it]), a scene with Amy & Trevor or Travis "in bed" with someone pulling a knife, someone emerging from a tub of ice, and so much more it's too much to explain!" Looks like Sony are building up to the release of the movie! If anyone knows of how to get these commercials up onto the Net to be posted here at ULegend.net for UK fans, that would be a great help.

Bad news for British fans of the Urban Legend movies today, I'm afriad. Sony has officially announced that the UK release date for Urban Legends: Final Cut (which was originally tentatively aimed at 15th October) has been pushed back to December 1st, 2000. On a brighter side of things, the Yahoo! Movies area of Yahoo.com have opened up their section for Urban Legends: Final Cut, and managed to get their hands on a couple of interesting new stills from the movie! Click here to take a look, you'll have to scroll down to see them.

The official Urban Legends: Final Cut website has finally been opened, and I must say that it is pretty darned good, almost matching up with the original Urban Legend's site. You can access the newly-opened site here: http://www.sony.com/urbanlegends. At the site there are a number of brilliant new stills from the movie (including a nice one of Reese! Everybody cheer!), and some movie clips to download. I would keep checking back for when some movie clips are released prior to the movies release.

A visitor of UrbanLegend.net has been in contact with John Ottman recently regarding UL2. He [the visitor] asked John what he thought the test audiences most enjoyed about the screenings of Urban Legends: Final Cut. This is what John had to say: "From what I remember the ending was their favorite part and they all liked the acting. Matt Davis and Loretta Devine were their favorites. Most thought the thrills were fun and unexpected." Thanks to 'screamve' for the info.

The official soundtrack cover and soundtrack listing for Urban Legends: Final Cut has been released on [director] John Ottman's official site! It seems (unlike the original movie's soudtrack) to be completely composed [no pun intended] of UL2's actual score music, composed by John Ottman. In my eyes this is a real treat. The CD will be available, disappointingly, prior to the movies release on September 12th, so be sure to pre-order your copy now!

A small teaser version of the official Urban Legends: Final Cut poster has been released online! A larger version should be released pretty soon, so check back for when that happens. You can view a larger version of the poster by entering the Urban Legends section of the site, and heading to the Image Galleries. Many of the people who have seen UL2 have stated that it is very original, so it's a bit of a shame to see that the official poster is so similar to IKWYDLS's and Scream's. Oh well..., maybe the producers/designers were out of inspiration?

June 30th, 2000
Jessica Cauffiel, who plays Sandra in URBAN LEGENDS: FINAL CUT, has joined the ever-growing cast-list of the upcoming 'romantic horror' movie entitled VALENTINE, which will also star Denise Richards and David Boreanaz. Cauffiel's first appearance was in the Steve Martin/Goldie Hawn movie THE OUT-OF-TOWNERS, she recently appeared in the comedy hit ROAD TRIP and will be appearing in URBAN LEGENDS: FINAL CUT this Fall. VALENTINE is her fourth appearance on screen and will be directed (funnily enough) by URBAN LEGEND director Jamie Blanks.

The official Urban Legends: The Final Cut trailer was released today and boy is it good! You can download the trailer through two links posted in the Urban Legends Multimedia area, or you can browse through some pictures that I posted up. Also, check out the UL2 reviews in the Urban Legends Reviews section.

A few weeks back a guy who auditioned for a part in Urban Legends: The Final Cut (and therefore received a first draft of the script) mailed me with some little bits of info about the movie! I have blanked out the names of victims etc where it is needed so that the movie is not spoiled for you all:
Amy's friend is the first person to die. she has a death scene in the movie Amy Mayfield is making based on urban legends. The killer films the scene for real after everyone leaves the set except the victim. Amy + crew find the scene the next morning, but not the victim's body.
There is a scene at a carnival where two semi-main characters that are geeky star wars-types get chopped up with a chainsaw by a killer dressed in a bearded lady outfit. |
