The River Klaralven is definitely a river of two halves. The bottom section, which is used for the Timber Rafting Tours, is wide, slow and flat, whereas the upper section that is used for these canoe tours is narrow, fast and bumpy.

This is a 6-day trip for people that do not regard themselves as complete beginners. The trip starts at Jordet in Norway, which is 120 kms North of where the Timber Rafting begins. It is truly excellent canoeing water with most of the river running in forest-covered valleys and gorges.

For the majority of the time, you will be alone and in complete wilderness. Because of this you must travel totally self-contained. Each night you will just set-up camp wherever you are. The equipment comes with a very good river guide and as the journey to the put-in point runs fairly close to the river, your driver will stop-off at each of the major rapids as well as the one Portage and describe how to handle them.

Boats used are Open Canadians and come complete with a full spray deck to keep the river out as you pass through the many rapids.
