RUGBY
LEAGUE CONFERENCE
MAY
25th 2002
ST ALBANS 36 - IPSWICH 28
Ipswich
went down to an hard working St Albans side in Hertfordshire on Saturday
but can be well pleased with their efforts. A committment to training
this Wednesday was made by 90 per cent of the team at St Albans which
will enable selection to take place straight after the session at Ipswich
on Wednesday.
The
unexpected return of Steve Gleeson after a season away in Australia
was a boost to the squad. Mike Reeves and Brendan Cooke were closely
watched by a Conference Lionhearts selector and both are likely to receive
invitation papers and find themselves in the England training squad
for the upcoming national representative fixtures in June, July and
September. There were tries for Paul Le Marquand, Chik Knox Macaulay,
Mike Reeves and Brendan Cook with debut maker Tavela Kwiimbi scoring
two well taking tries and Reeves adding two goals.
Ipswich
are looking to carry the momentum gained into training and onward to
Saturdays Derby clash with Cambridge at Humber Doucy Lane Ipswich.
