"A splendid performance, a pleasure to watch"...
"Another brilliant performance. You made us proud. God bless you, your family and all the Conor Academy dancers".
"I am extremely proud of all my pupils and I’m sure all their parents are too".
Following on from last year's splendid performance, the Conor Academy of Irish Dancing, who are based in Croydon, Surrey and Streatham, South London, were very proud to be invited back to the 2002 production of "The Scottish Tattoo" performed at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 21st April, 2002. This years event, entitled "Scotland Forever" was the 4rd occasion of the Scottish Tattoo, where we witnessed the best of Scottish and Irish history, music, song and dance. The Conor Academy performed displays of traditional IRISH dancing offering that special blend of Gaelic entertainment and a great spectacle of Celtic magic brought by over 400 performers to an audience of over 3000. One proud parent said, "Another brilliant performance. You made us proud. God bless you, your family and all the Conor Academy dancers".
This year we also performed alongside the 'Celtic Super Group' "CLAIR" who joined us from the highlands which guaranteed to take your breath away. Each member is a star in thier own right and they come together to produce some of the best traditional music of the 'Highlands and Islands' that you will ever hear. Hosted by Ian McLennan (of www.thescottishtattoo.com), the Conor Academy and other gaelic performers from around the UK performed at, arguably, one of the most prestigious stages in the world. The 42-strong troupe of Irish dancers from the Conor Academy ranged from beginners to championship standard and aged from 6 years.
Bridie Willis TCRG, is the Tutor and Artistic Director of the Conor Academy said, "I was really pleased to be invited back for the 2002 show. It has been a real challenge to choreograph some special dance routines for the Tattoo, incorporating all members of my troupe. I am extremely proud of all my pupils as I’m sure all thier parents are too". Bridie and the Conor Academy has been thriving in Croydon and Streatham for over 20 years, and this latest achievement will add to the many success stories. The Tattoo is also appearing at the following venues:
