Bridie Teaches Phixx
a Step or Two for CBBC...

BEING RE-BROADCAST TODAY - St Patrick's Day, ON CBBC AT 17.30...

Bridie Willis, TCRG, Tutor and Artistic Director of the Conor Academy of Irish Dancing, was invited to see if the new Boy Band, PHIXX, could cut it as Irish dancers.

The challenge was one from the BBC children's magazine programme 'Xchange' in the strand, "Can You Cut It". A film crew from the BBC spent an afternoon with Bridie and the boys who were taught a short piece of traditional Irish step-dancing. But first, the band were shown how it should be done by five Conor Academy pupils. Following the training session, the boys had to perform the same piece, to see “if they can cut it”, to a young audience at St. James the Great RC Primary School in Thornton Heath, Surrey, where Bridie holds regular classes each week.

Xchange is a live magazine programme which is aimed at 8-14 year olds and features the latest news on pop music, sport etc. This particular item will be transmitted on CBBC during half term week so watch out and don't forget to tell your friends.

The band ‘Phixx’ was formed from the cult BBC show, “Pop Stars The Rivals” and have already released a single, their second "Love Revolution" is due for release on 8th March.

Bridie Willis TCRG, is the Tutor and Artistic Director of the Conor Academy said, "I can't believe that it's only February and already we've done two pieces for television in 2004. Once again, I am extremely proud to see my pupils on the small screen".

Well done to Faune Hyland, Sophie Lee, Tia Pomfret, Ciara Hand and Rhiannon Brooks.
