The Baker Family

Baker

An occupational name derived from the Saxon word bacan, meaning to bake.

The Baker family have had strong links with Sherborne, in Dorset, since at least 1804 until the present day. My three times great grandfather Isaac Baker was born in the neighbouring village of Milborne Port in Somerset c1780, but had moved to Sherborne, Dorset by 1804 when he married Grace Guy.
