CHASSIS AND RUNNING GEAR
Other views of the bare chassis

The chassis was in near-perfect condition. The quarter-elliptic springs were left in place, there being some wear, but insufficient to prejudice their efficiency. One of the last jobs was to protect both front and rear springs with a waterproof gaiter. The up-market answer is to use leather complete with lubrication nipples, but I used a grease-impregnated wrap, cheap and efficient, if messy to apply. You can see half of the four strip protection for the fuel tank when the luggage (trunk) rack is used.
