Whenever he is not directing or writing, John is in demand as a teacher and lecturer. He has worked at many of the major schools throughout his career.

Junior Artist in Residence, University of Georgia, USA

Won an International Scholarship to study on a Master of Fine Arts programme at this prestigious university. Also worked on the faculty teaching undergraduate acting classes.
Much Ado About Nothing, Western Kentucky - see also ShakespeareArtist in Residence, Western Kentucky University, USA
Directed a production of Much Ado About Nothing and taught a voice module for the undergraduate programme.
Visiting Artist, Oregon State University, USA
Gave a series of Master-classes on the works of William Shakespeare and was a consultant on the Shakespeare Season being undertaken by the theatre department.
Visiting Artist, Moscow Arts Theatre
Spent a short season at this world-famous theatre, working with designer Alexander Borowski on productions of Solzhenitzyn's Victory Celebrations and Gubarev's Sarcophagus.
Guest Lecturer, Guildford School of Acting 
Many courses and productions include the world premiere of Stephen Sondheim's You're Gonna Love Tomorrow
Guest Lecturer, Birmingham School of Speech and Drama

Taught courses on voice for the actor.
Guest Lecturer, Royal Academy of Dramatic Art
Gave lecturers on the actor in music-theatre.

Taught courses on the works of Ibsen, Miller, Williams, Neil Simon and William Shakespeare
Guest lecturer and Director – Webber Douglas Academy, London
Worked with Final Year Students on their showcase production of Ring Round The Moon.

Certificate in Dramatic Studies (Univ. of Glasgow)
