An account of the 1623-1626 voyage around the world of a Dutch naval force of eleven ships - the so-called Nassau Fleet. In planning for many years, this was one of the first major Dutch naval ventures following expiration of the Twelve Years Truce of 1609-1621 and the resumption of hostilities with 'hereditary foe' Spain. However, primarily due to the lack of spectacular naval victories, territorial conquest, or lucrative financial gain, the Nassau Fleet's circumnavigation of the globe remains an often-overlooked and neglected episode in the otherwise impressive maritime history of the Netherlands.
