TULLIS BUILDING

The Tullis Building in Tullibody, Clackmannanshire was in an advanced state of disrepair when we were awarded the contract to demolish in summer 2001.  The building which had originally been a tannery and subsequently was used as a plastics factory had been the subject of vandalism over a prolonged period.

The inside of the building had first to be emptied of the remnants of the last occupation on all five floors before the roof and floors were stripped working from top to botton to leave only the building brick and steel structure standing.

This structure was then demolished using our Komatsu 450 for the lower areas and then our Case 9046 with Kocurek high reach attachment for the taller structure.

Due to it's close proximity to a busy roadway the front building required the road to be closed to traffic during the demolition.  In order to limit the impact on the public this was carried out on a Sunday and completed within six hours while maintaining safe passage for a half-hourly bus service.

The site was then tidied and levelled in preparation for redevelopment .
