Species Records

It should be noted that these lists are not intended to be a systematic scientific record. They consist of the observations (largely since 2001) of a few enthusiasts and interested members of the public. However, both lists are now reasonably comprehensive. Have a read of the Local Wildlife section to learn more about what you can see in and around Dalgety Bay.

Separate lists are provided for birds and trees and plants. Location of sightings and other comments are given in some cases. Observations cover the area between Preston Hill and St Bridget's Kirk.

Thanks to Kathryn Green and in particular Jean Cook and for their help with the plants list. Jean Cook carried out an extensive survey of the plants found in Dalgety Bay during the spring and summer of 2003, and the impressive results of this enormous effort have now been incorporated into the plants list, making it extremely comprehensive. Thanks also to Alistair Inglis for his invaluable data on the birds and Peder Aspen for his detailed survey information on the trees.

The following abbreviations are used:

BHW = Bathing House Wood

LHW = Letham Hill Wood

MB = Main Bay (Dalgety Bay)

RP = Ross Plantation

SDH = St David's Harbour
