Here is a mail I received:
> I've just bought a MKIII Scorpio 1990 with a siezed engine. Nowhere on the net is there information about rebuilding an engine. I will happily contribute my findings and problems including prices for engine bits if you are interested. The test will be if I can get the running by February....
So naturally I excepted his offer and here are the photos and mails he sent me, I'm sure he'd be happy to answer your questions directly. gldavies@bigfoot.com
This is what an engine looks like when the oil is not changed at regular intervals. The oil is like tar, which is very difficult to remove. Fortunately the oil have been cleared with a thin long screwdriver, now they need to be blown with paraffin and a compressor.

Engine in, it took two hours to start with a 100 amp starter. Running a little rough, I think the timing is out. I'll let you know.
------
Scorpio up and running well, whole project cost £400. Only one small problem where I took the car to Ford for a DFS 2000 check because of high engine revs at tickover. They charged £75 + VAT for the DFS and £50 + VAT for an ABS check due to the light staying on. They said the faults were the Speed Control Idle Valve and two front ABS sensors.
Valve £70
2 x sensor £170
The ABS light now works properly so it just must have been dry contacts but the car still had high revs after I purchased the valve. I have since discovered that I assembled the butterfly valves in their wrong positions and the old valve is not at fault, I wonder whether the car went anywhere near a DFS diagnostic tester.
After an MOT the car failed Head Light Aim and rear CV Gaiter.
Not bad for a 1990 H reg. £800 Ford Granada Scorpio. So if anyone wants a V6 engine rebuild then I'll do it for £600.............................
