Scorpio News
- reports Scorpio Specific News from Car Journals
and other Sources of Information.
Car, June 1998 -(page
1 & page 2) Initial details on the Lincoln
LS that will replace the Scorpio. Looks a bit like a cross between a BMW
and Mitsibushi, and the dash could have come from any one of a dozen Japanese
Cars. Pricied at between £25,000 to £28,000 seems more realistic
than GM's Cadallic pricing. About time we had a V8 from a mainstream manufacture,
doubt if I'll buy one though as I can't imagine living without the versatility
of a hatchback.
Car, November 1997 -
Includes the 24V Scorpio among its list of cars you are guaranteed to enjoy
without denting your bank balance.
Transport Source Books - No. 161 Ford Granada Mark
3 - The only book I've found that covers the Granada / Scorpio. It
is about a hundred pages worth of articles taken from various UK Car Journals.
There is good coverage of the launch of the car in 1985. There are long
term tests, and road tests on most engine versions including the more recent
Cosworth 24V version. My only criticisms are the duplicated 4x4 tests,
the lack of a detailed test for the revised V6 (2.9) in 2WD form and the
lack of any buying used articles. Otherwise it was 9.95 well spent and
I can recommend to other Scorpio Fans so here are
the ordering details.
Car, July 1997 - The replacement for the Ford Scorpio will be
based on a stretched Mondeo platform according to US sources. Due out in
2001, the new Scorpio will be shorter than the current car, and front wheel
drive reflecting the decline in the big 'non prestige' saloon market. It
will use the same engines as the current Mondeo line-up, plus the US-market
3.0-litre Duratec fitted to the Ford Tauras. Ford had originally considered
using the rwd DEW98 platform that underpins the new Jaguar X200. The current
bug-eyed, and slow selling, Scorpio will be facelifted late this year to
stretch its lifespan.
