To many people, Monochrome is the true spirit of photography.

I have always believed that a successful monochrome image would
beat a successful colour image, because sometimes when people view
a colour image, the colour alone can have a certain "Wow" value.

As the monochrome photographer doesn't have this advantage, they
have to work harder to compete against the colour images and
therefore the subtle use of light, shade and tone can produce an image
of greater impact.
