West Calder Soldier Killed
"Information has been received that Pte R Turner, of the 13th Royal Scots, who resides at 21 Westwood Row, was killed in the big engagement in France on the 25th and 26th September. Previous to enlistment deceased worked as a miner."

Memorial: LOOS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France Grave Reference/Panel Number: Panel 10 to 13 Location: Loos-en-Gohelle is a village about 5 kilometres north-west of Lens. The Loos Memorial forms the side and back of Dud Corner Cemetery where over 1,700 officers and men are buried, the great majority of whom fell in the Battle of Loos.
