"The above is a photo of Pte Daniel White, of the 11th Royal Scots, who was killed in France on the 25th September. His home is at 41 Livingstone Street, Addiewell. He served for three years in the HLI and had left the army. When war broke out he was the first recruit to leave Addiewell. Another brother is a sergeant in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Pte White was 28 years of age."

Location:  Loos-en-Gohelle is a village about 5 kilometres north-west of Lens. The Loos Memorial forms the side and back of Dud Corner Cemetery where over 1,700 officers and men are buried, the great majority of whom fell in the Battle of Loos.
