"Mrs Gray, Breich Inns, West Calder, has now been officially notified by the War Office that her husband, Corporal William Gray, was killed in action at the Dardanelles on 28th June, 1915. He was a territorial in the HLI when the war broke out, and later was attached to the Royal Scots. He took part in the heavy fighting at the Dardanelles in June and on the 28th he was reported missing. Mrs Gray has had a long period of anxious waiting for further news, but the official notice of his death has now come to hand."
