BRYCE - died of wounds received in action on the 24th September, Pte John Bryce, Royal Scots, in his 19th year, eldest son of William and Agnes Bryce, Manse Cottage, West calder. Deeply regretted.
He marched away so bravely, His young head proudly held, His spirit never faltered, His courage never failed. While on the field of battle, He calmly took his place, He fought and died for Britain And the honour of his race
