Commonwealth War Graves Commission

We regret to learn that Mr Richard Ellis, Mossend, has been notified that his eldest son, Lce-Cpl William Ellis, has been killed in action. He had taken his share in the heavy fighting in France and latterly was for a time stationed in Ireland. He was home on leave before the German offensive began and was looking well. He was a great favourite among the young men of the district, being a prominent playing member of Mossend Burnvale Football Club and his death will be keenly regretted by all who knew him.
