"Mrs William Watson, Mossend, has received the sad news that her only son, Pte William Watson, of the KOSB, died of wounds received in action on the 24th September.
His injuries were of a serious nature, and he passed away the same evening at the Casualty Clearing Station.
He was the only son of the late William Watson, who resided for many long years in what is now known as Learmonth Crescent."
