One of the many questions I get asked is, where do I start programming?  This is a general question I have no hope of answering.  However I have bought a number of books over the years some of which have been more useful than others.  So I've included a list of texts I've used, but please bear in mind I'm a predominantly a C/C++ and Java programmer.  I've split these books into sections listed below.  Most books are available through any decent high street book store, such as Dillon's and Waterstone.  However, I've found that I've saved substantial money by ordering on-line through people such as Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com (US Web site).
