Grooved Arête

Back to Grooved Arête Report

Wonderful exposed climbing

Pitch 7 - After traversing across the Knights Slab (Crux) on small holds I set up a belay on the arête below the groove shown above, this is a wonderfully exposed position and a little tight for space but the gear is good.  A short climb through the groove  finishes on a  large ledge.  This part of the climbing is on good holds but still has an exposed feeling.

Appraching the final gully

Approaching the summit gully - A short scramble leads to an obvious saddle on the ridge, this is crossed to revel a good path following the rock in a horse shoe shape, the summit gully is located out of sight in the middle of this path.

Scrambling the final gully

Gully to the Summit - To finish the day we then scrambled up the rock to an obvious V, standing in this V puts you at one edge of a large arch (amphitheatre if you like) with a path running around the edge to the start of the gully shown above.  This is easily climbed exiting left at the top.

Approaching the Sumit

Exiting the Gully - After exiting the gully easy scrambling continues to the top.
